In 2025, the Capacity Grant team and our partners at B43 production traveled to Ventura County Office of Education to capture the great work their local team was doing around collecting insurance information from families in their community. This series of videos presents a common scenario between families and schools regarding the collection of health insurance information. It clearly and empathetically explains why schools request these details, how the information helps secure state funding for mental health and wellness services, and reassures families that all information is confidential, protected under FERPA and HIPAA, and does not create additional costs. The dialogue also addresses cultural concerns, questions about insurance coverage, and emphasizes that students will always receive support and access to services regardless of their insurance status.
