Thank you for expressing interest in a Junior Sports Membership (JSM) with the Cricket Section at the Singapore Cricket Club. We're delighted to share more about the JSM, which plays a vital role in our cricket pathway, connecting the SCC Cricket Academy and the SCC Cricket Section seamlessly.
To help you better understand the journey, we've prepared a visual representation in the form of a poster. Please take a moment to explore the SCC Cricket Pathway Poster by following this link.
We believe that the JSM offers an excellent opportunity for young talents to continue their cricket journey within our club. If you have any questions or would like further information, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
Introduction:
There are two distinct entities: the SCC Cricket Academy and the Singapore Cricket Club (SCC). Joining the Academy doesn't equate to obtaining a club membership. Rather, it's an entry into the junior coaching program, where participants receive tailored coaching and guidance to enhance their skills while practicing alongside their peers.
For those under 16, the SCC's Cricket Section only provides a Junior Sports Membership (JSM) if they're registered in the Academy and training in the Elite group (females U16 must be attending the Academy but can be in any group as long as they are recommended by Head Coach or Head of Pathways), ensuring their progress remains under the watchful eyes of our coaches. Thus, youngsters have choices:
Enrol in the Academy and secure a Junior Sports Membership for broader access, including senior trainings and matches.
Join the Academy solely for the junior program.
Opt out of the Academy and wait until turning 16 to pursue Junior Sports Membership.
Rules may have exceptions, and the Cricket Committee holds the authority in such matters. Occasionally, if a player from the Academy demonstrates exceptional skills, outshining their contemporaries, they may be moved up earlier than usual.
Step 1: Determine Eligibility
Before you start the application process, ensure you meet the following eligibility criteria:
Eligibility Criteria: Individuals who are under the age of 16 and wish to apply for Junior Sports Membership (JSM) within the SCC Cricket Section have specific eligibility requirements.
Application Requirement: To be considered for JSM, prospective members falling within this age category must fulfil the following conditions:
Attendance at the SCC Cricket Academy: Applicants are required to attend the SCC Cricket Academy.
Recommendation by Club Coaches: They must also receive a recommendation from the Head Coach and/or Head of Pathways who are associated with the SCC Cricket Academy.
Transition to Full JSM Status: Once these members reach the specified age limit, their obligation to attend the SCC Cricket Academy ceases, and they can maintain their JSM status without further attendance requirements.
This attendance at the Cricket Academy ensures that young cricketers continue to develop their skills and actively participate in structured training programs.
Compliance with this requirement is essential to maintain your JSM status.
Potential JSMs aged between 16 and 25 who are not currently attending the Cricket Academy at the time of application will need to pass a cricket trial conducted by the Head Coach (or their delegate) before proceeding with their JSM application.
Active Participation: Demonstrate enthusiastic participation in Section Training and Events, showing your commitment to the cricket community.
Representation: As an SCC Cricket Section member, we encourage your representation in the National Men's/Women's leagues and tournaments. This also includes participation in Academy matches if you're under 16. Be willing to be available for at least 80% of the matches you're called upon for.
Age Range: The Junior Sports Membership is available for individuals between the ages of 13 and 26.
Residency: To be eligible, you need to be a resident in Singapore.

You can make the payment through the following methods:
Cash, NETS, or credit card (VISA/MASTER/AMEX) at the Member Services Desk (MSD).
Bank Transfer, PayNow, or by Cheque payable to "Singapore Cricket Club." (Link to SCC Bank details)
Important Notes:
Application Cut-Off Time: Ensure all applications are submitted before 4 pm on a Thursday to be sent to the Cricket Committee for initial approval. Applications arriving after this time may be processed in the following week.
Processing and Approval: The Junior Sports Membership application involves approvals from the Chairman of Games Control Board, R&M Sub-Committee, and General Committee. This process typically takes 2 to 4 weeks.
Use of Facilities and Participation: Please note that applicants whose applications are in process and haven't been approved are not permitted to use the Club's facilities or play for the Club.
Member Points: To ensure a smooth renewal process, it's important to accrue at least 20 member points within the calendar year. For detailed information on the Member Points System, please refer to the provided LINK.
Benefits of Being a JSM: Being a JSM comes with various benefits, including discounted program fees, the ability to purchase F&B at the Club via a JSM Charge Card, and participation in senior club tours.
Additional Cricket Levy: JSMs will now be subject to an additional Cricket Levy each year, in addition to their regular club subscription fees. The annual payments to the club cover essential expenses such as tournament entry fees, match balls, and payments for umpires and scorers. The Cricket Section funds extra services like teas at games, coaching during training sessions, and subsidising events specifically for JSMs, which are not covered by the club subscription.
The levy is set at 20% of the club subscription fee. This translates to an additional $24 for JSMs under 17 and $60 for those over 17, plus GST. This levy is separate from the annual club subscription fee but will be paid through the same payment channel. Detailed payment instructions will be provided at the beginning of the year.
Payment of this levy is mandatory for JSMs to participate in section training and represent the club in cricket matches. This Cricket Levy is an essential addition to help cover the costs of the enhanced services and opportunities provided by the Cricket Section, ensuring a high-quality experience for all JSMs.
Policy on JSMs Playing League Cricket for Other Clubs / Teams: SCC has experienced a significant increase in JSMs, prompting the need for a flexible approach regarding their participation in league cricket. Recognising the limited capacity for adding more league squads and the desire to offer more playing opportunities, SCC now permits JSMs to play with other clubs under specific conditions. These conditions include maintaining commitment to SCC, restrictions on certain exclusive training programs, and implications for club subsidies and membership transitions. This policy balances the development of young cricketers with SCC's long-term strategic goals. For detailed information on this policy and its conditions, click here.
