Purpose:
The purpose of this Code of Conduct is to ensure that all parents and spectators uphold the spirit of junior cricket, fostering an environment of respect, encouragement, and enjoyment for all involved.
1. Respect and Fair Play:
Remember that children play cricket for their enjoyment, not yours.
Applaud good performance and effort from both your child's team and their opponents.
Respect the decisions of the umpires, coaches, and other match officials.
Encourage players always to play according to the rules and to respect other players, coaches, and officials.
2. Positive Encouragement:
Focus on the child's efforts and performance rather than winning or losing.
Encourage children to play according to the rules and to resolve conflicts without resorting to hostility or violence.
Never ridicule or yell at a child for making a mistake or losing a game.
3. Appropriate Behaviour:
Refrain from using foul or abusive language.
Do not consume alcoholic beverages or smoke on or near the field of play during matches or training.
Respect and adhere to any local regulations or rules of the venue.
4. Avoid Coaching from the Sideline:
Leave the coaching to the appointed coaches. It can confuse and demotivate children if they hear conflicting advice from multiple sources.
Do not interfere with the coach's decisions or methodologies.
Do not enter the training area unless directed by a Coach
5. Respect for All:
Treat all players, coaches, umpires, and other parents with respect and courtesy.
Promote the importance of being a team player and the value of camaraderie.
Discrimination or harassment in any form is not acceptable.
6. Social Media and Photography:
Always seek permission before taking photographs or recording videos of children other than your own.
Avoid posting negative comments or criticisms on social media platforms.
Always ensure any images posted online are respectful and appropriate.
7. Communication:
If you have concerns, direct them to the appropriate channels which is to the Academy Director [David Bennett (Benno)]
Avoid discussing sensitive or potentially controversial topics in front of children or within earshot of the match or training.
8. Personal Safety:
Ensure that children are picked up promptly after training sessions or matches.
9. Compliance:
Non-compliance with this Code of Conduct may result in removal from the match or event, and in repeated cases, a ban from attending future events.
Parents and guardians are integral to the success and enjoyment of junior cricket. We encourage everyone to promote and uphold these guidelines, ensuring that SCC Cricket Academy remains a positive, nurturing environment for all our young cricketers.
