Photography 1 (SBCC PHOTO 109)

This is a course where you will learn the fundamentals of digital imaging and photography through the use of digital SLR cameras, smartphones, Adobe Photoshop and photo editing apps on the iPad or computer. Students will create original and high quality digital images while learning the basics of photography, camera functions and image exposure, image editing and image manipulation. Students will participate in photo critiques in order to provide positive peer feedback. 

Advanced Photography (SBCC PHOTO 209)

This is a course where you will continue to develop your digital imaging and photography skills through the use of digital SLR cameras, smartphones, Adobe Photoshop and photo editing apps on the iPad or computer. Students will create original and high quality digital images while applying their knowledge in photography, camera functions and image exposure, image editing and image manipulation. Since this is an advanced class, it leans heavily on project-based learning that is student centered and self-paced through the modules in Canvas. Students will work on creative photography assignments, career orientated assignments, build their brand and create their own logo, and complete a professional portfolio of their images.

College Credit

Both levels of photo are Dual Enrollment courses. This means that passing students will have a weighted grade, as well as an opportunity to earn SBCC credit for the course. 

Career Technical Education

Photography at Dos Pueblos is a visual art course, as well as a CTE course. These college level courses are designed to give practical experience to our students. Technical aspects of the DSLR cameras are explored, and students develop skills to use these tools in a professional way. We will study industry tools and practices.  

These skills can be used in the media world, preparing our student for future endeavors.
