Red Herring

Red Herring refers to a statement that introduces an unrelated point instead of addressing the question at hand.

Example: Students who listen to music while doing homework produce better material, but the food they are served by the cafeteria is a more pressing issue.

▪ Students who listen to music while doing homework has nothing to do with the cafeteria food.
