Post hoc, ergo prompter hoc is an error created when assuming sequence indicates causation. Assuming just because things happen after one another, means they are directly related and have a connection.
Example: Many people who eat foods that are high in cholesterol eventually develop high blood pressure; therefore, high dietary cholesterol causes high blood pressure.
Just because one comes after the other for some, does not mean it is the deciding factor for all.
