Non Sequitur

A non sequitur is a term that means "it does not follow." This is an illogical statement made that draws a conclusion without and viable evidence.

Example:

▪ non-sequitur: My essay will get a good grade because i put a lot of effort into it.

• explanation: the speaker may not write well, however much effort he expends. Sometimes a statements appears to be a non sequitur because the writer has failed to make connections between the assumptions and the ideas. Begin practicing to bring assumptions out in the open. It is a bad habit to get into to leave assumptions in the dark and missing a logical link.
