Orchestra

Orchestra is the study of string instruments (violin, viola, cello, and bass). All activities (ensemble playing, solo playing, listening to music, writing about music) are designed to develop and refine elements of musicianship such as music reading skills, tone production, technical skills, intonation, listening skills, and analyzing music. Students will learn about the various musical styles from the Baroque Period to modern music. Orchestra students also have the opportunity to play symphony orchestra music with members of the band. Orchestra is comprised of students in grades 9th-12th that meets 1st hour, 8:30-9:18 AM Monday through Friday. There also is a zero-hour orchestra (7:30-8:15 AM) for students that need more flexibility in their schedule.

Students in the orchestra also have performed in both the District and State ISSMA Solo and Ensemble events earning Gold and Silver ratings.
