Show Choir

What is Show Choir?

The John Adams Show Choir is an audition-based group of the top singers and performers at John Adams. Students are expected to perform a wide range of styles of music, from classical baroque to modern pop tunes, as well as perform choreographed routines. Technique, intonation, choreography, and etiquette will be emphasized within the group. 

There is a $50 annual fee to participate in Show Choir to help cover the cost of music and other expenses related to Show Choir

Where do we perform?

The Show Choir performs frequently throughout the community and participates in the ISSMA Show Choir Contest in March. All Show Choir members also participate in ISSMA Solo & Ensemble and ISSMA Organizational Contest. 

When do we practice? 

Show Choir meets 0 hour and 1st hour as well as some after-school rehearsals. Any student who wishes to participate in Show Choir must be signed up for 0-hour. 

Female Attire

Female students will wear red Show Choir dresses, which students rent from the choral department for $25 a year. Students are also expected to provide black character shoes and black spandex shorts. 

Male Attire

Male students are expected to provide black dress pants, a white collared dress shirt, black dress shoes, and black socks. The school will provide a black bow tie and suspenders.
