Ensure Equitable Digital Access
School library websites provide students with direct access to a wide array of school library purchased digital resources all in one easy to access location (Elementary & Secondary sites)
Destiny Library catalog (SPHS, SPMS, Grand Avenue, Tower Rock, Merrimac, Bridges)
A wide variety of databases are available for digital books, audiobooks, magazines, videos, research resources, and many more opportunities for digital learning
eBooks and audiobooks are available for online / offline access
The District is one-to-one at the High School and Middle Schools; access to a classroom set in all elementary library locations. Students with chromebooks have easy access to all digital resources own by the Library.
Elementary Libraries loan "Library Center Chromebook Carts" to classrooms so students have access to digital resources purchased through the Library. Each cart contains a learning center set of 10 chromebooks.
SPSD students have free access to a 24/7/365 day a year full digital library (unlimited throughout the year and in summer months).
iPads purchased to support filming projects and other activities in the Library, preventing one department from owning recording equipment.
Current Practices & Artifacts
Easy and uniform access to all digital library resources, including online catalog, available through the Library webpages. All students have quick access to Library resources through a bookmark on 1:1 SPSD devices and library chromebooks.
Possible Areas for Growth
Communicate regularly with families to encourage the use of library resources at home during evenings, weekends and summer months.
Common School Fund Purchasing : funding research database purchases, digital curation and collaboration tools, video editing software for chromebooks, eBooks / audiobooks, hardware purchases.
2024-2025 Target Goal:
The Library Media Specialists will communicate via family newsletters four times a year to encourage the use of library resources at home during evenings, weekends, and summer months.
