Facilitates Personalized Professional Learning
Library Media Specialists (LMS) lead professional learning to cultivate a broader understanding of the skills that comprise success in a digital age (e.g. critical thinking, information literacy, digital citizenship and technology)
Current Practices & Artifacts
Offer routine PD trainings for teachers at all levels using library website, library purchased digital resources and technology hardware.
Attend New Staff Orientation meetings to share about resources available through the Libraries
Databases with teaching resources within them
Library websites with links to professional resources for staff
Utilize Library Newsletters at least twice a year sharing new resources and services available to staff and students
Survey staff/students annually to determine specific student needs
LMS Professional Learning
Membership in WEMTA, attend WEMTA Conferences and webinars, SLATE and / or Google Midwest Ed Tech Summit.
Follow Personal Learning Networks including, Future Ready Librarians, Future Ready Secondary Librarians, Learning Librarians, etc. Facebook.
Listen to School Library podcasts to continue to grow ideas for our Libraries and students use of Libraries.
Areas for Growth
Survey staff yearly to determine specific student needs.
Become a more active participant with departments and/or teams of classroom teachers.
Promote professional resources to staff
Make sure new staff are aware and fully trained on library resources available to them for instructional purposes.
Seek district funding to attend tech conference programming annually.
2024-2025 Target Goal(s):
The Library Media Specialists will provide face to face training with new SPSD staff on library resources available to them for instructional purposes in January of the school year.
The Library Media Specialists will attend a tech conference annually to stay current with practices.
