Current Practices & Artifacts
Public library collaboration with reading programs at the Elementary and MS Levels
Apply for grants from outside sources to support the mission of our Libraries
Elementary Librarian serves on the Ruth Culver Community Library Board of Trustees, acting as a bridge between the school libraries and public library in our community.
Actively seek virtual author visits for secondary level students, hosting full grade virtual visits the past several years.
Promote the use of the public library resources when the school library does not have the resources a user needs. Assist students in getting public library cards.
Social Media postings of resources to the community, @saukprairiemslibrary (MS) and @saukprairiehslibrary (HS) on Instagram.
Provide reading materials within our teaching community that support the Sauk Prairie Community Read (when relevant and age appropriate).
Present about library services to PTO groups at each building on an annual basis.
Possible Areas for Growth
Cooperative measures with the public libraries and other local businesses have given us a foundation for community partnerships, but more can be done to invite the community into our space and programming.
Merge social media used to highlight HS and MS Libraries to instead highlight all Sauk Prairie School District Libraries. Emphasize the incredible work that is happening inside and outside of our Libraries.
Apply for grants and other funding opportunities that support literacy in our schools.
2024-2025 Target Goal(s):
Secondary Library Media Specialist will collaborate with the local public library approximately four times during the school year to bridge connections between school and the public library.
