Leads Beyond the Library
Participates in setting the school district's vision and strategic plan for digital learning and fosters a culture of collaboration and innovation to empower teachers and learners. Uses budgets to leverage equity and collaboration to improve learning outcomes for each student.
Current Practices & Artifacts
Library Media Specialists attend building staff meetings, participate and communicate library goals.
Library Plan is aligned to District Goals.
Collaborates on instruction with teachers when opportunities become available; actively seeks collaborative relationships at meetings and via email and during summer PD.
Works with teachers to support reading initiatives in secondary classrooms (book groups/clubs, specific genre related reading units). Focus on student success despite reading levels/abilities (eBooks and audiobook support).
Libraries are supportive of equitable learning for all.
Possible Areas for Growth
Become active participants with teaching teams and departments in building and district PLCs and other district committees.
Develop SPSD Libraries or Elementary and Secondary monthly newsletter to inform on how the Library can support instruction.
Initiate and help coordinate the District in becoming a Future Ready School.
Actively pursue collaborative opportunities with MORE teachers throughout our buildings.

1) Library Media Specialists will add information to the school staff newsletter at least quarterly throughout the school year.
