Grade Kindergarten
Week 8- "Baby Birds of Spring"
Supplies- Large white paper
dark crayon for drawing
markers
3 cotton balls
glue
Place your paper the tall way. Draw a line about two inches from the left side of the paper. Draw this line from top to bottgom. Now draw a double line from the middle of that line going across the paper, almost to the other side.
The line from top to bottom is side of the tree. The lines going across are the tree limb. Near the center of the tree limb draw bird nest about the size of your fist. You can do this by using a brown marker or crayon and drawing long curved line over and over itself. This will have the texture of twigs and grass that birds often make their nests from.
The three cotton balls can be colored by dabbing a marker over and over on it. These will be the baby birds. Glue these into the nest. Press into the cotton with marker to make eyes and a beak for each bird.
Add details such as short lines for bark texture and leaves on short branches. Color everything in. Don't forget the sky. What a lovely work of art for spring!

Week 8- "Art on the Farm"
Supplies- Large white paper
dark crayon for drawing
Crayons or markers
Imagine you are visiting a farm. Do you have a favorite farm animal? What kind of enclosure does it need to be safe and clean and to not get away?
Squares and triangles are great for making barns and pens to keep animals in.
Draw your animal on this farm. The details you can add would be the food that they eat and the people who care for them.
Farm animals spend a lot of time outside. Draw the sky, grass, and trees you see on your farm. There can also be tractors and plows.
I hope your animals are very happy on your imaginary farm!

Week 8-"Calling Out Design"
Supplies"- large white paper
dark crayon for drawing
crayons
Place your paper the wide way in front of you. This activity can use more than one person or you can do your own calling out. See if a family member can participate with you.
Take turns calling out a shape or line to be placed on your paper. For example: draw a large circle in the middle of the paper, draw a small rectangle anywhere, draw a zigzag line from the top of the left side to the bottom of the right.
You may finish the drawing part when the paper arrears to be fairly full. Color this design. the design often appears to be floating.
GRADE 3
Week 8- "Elements of Drawing"
Supplies- large white paper
pencil
crayons or markers
The basic lines and forms we use to draw are called elements of drawing. The Circle Family contains shapes which are any enclosed line: circle, oval, ellipse, puddle, square, triangle, etc. When the circle family shapes are filled in they are now the Dot Family. The Lines Family consists of straight, angled, or curved lines.
By combining and blending these elements we create pictures. Fold your paper into 8 sections.
Begin at the top and create a different subject for each section by using these elements. These ideas can be anything from a dinosaur face to a city skyline. Using your own ideas usually works best. Any smaller details you add will automatically be from the elements of drawing.
Use crayon or marker or both to color in. Any time we draw from something we see, we look for the shapes and lines of that subject. Have Fun!
