Week 4: "Read a Story and Draw"
Supplies: a favorite story book, crayons or markers, large white paper.
Have a grown-up or older sibling read a favorite story. Every now and then close yours eyes and visualize the story in your head.
When you feel ready, begin to draw a picture with a dark crayon. You can also wait until the story is over if you like.
A story can have many parts. Try to draw many details which help to tell the story through your picture.
Be sure to share the picture with your family. This is an activity you can do with other favorite books!
Week 4: "Hand Bird Art"
Supplies- large paper, Crayons, markers, watercolor paint or any other colorful media
Place the paper the tall way in front of you. Place your hand a little higher than the middle of the paper. Now, close your fingers.
Trace your hand with a dark crayon, close the bottom of the hand shape. Trace another closed fingers hand shape on each side, the shapes can be touching.
Draw a line from the the left side of the paper all the way to the right side right under and touching these shapes. Draw another line under the first one about a half inch apart. The shapes will become birds and the lines will be the tree limb they are sitting on. You can add leaves to the tree limb.
Backs to the birds. Draw two circle eyes. Draw a beak with an upside-down triangle for a beak. Tiny pointy lines can be the birds toes. Draw clouds and add any details you can think of. Birds can be very colorful. Enjoy coloring or painting your birds!
Week 4: "Mushroom Houses"

Try to find pictures of mushrooms to look at. Some are almost pointy, some are round , and others are almost flat.
Draw you mushroom very large and wide. Add windows and a door.
Are there flowers at your mushroom house? Are there sidewalks or other interesting ideas?
Mushrooms come in many colors. I love the white spotted red topped ones a lot. Color your house and give it a name!
Week 4: "Treasure Maps"
Supplies- Large white paper, crayons or colored pencils
Imagine you have found a treasure map. How would it look? Where is the treasure? Is it on an island, in the woods, inside a castle, or some other place?
A dotted line makes a great trail. Remember to create details as you draw this trail. Will it go through the the woods or into a garden? Will it go over a bridge or under water? Use your imagination.
Color in carefully so you don't lose the tiny details. I wonder just what your treasure will be!
