Week 5: "Bunnies in My Yard"
Supplies: large white paper
crayons
Place your paper the wide way in front of you.
Using a dark crayon, draw a sideways oval in the middle of your paper. Leave a space and draw another one to the right of it, making it a standing up oval. Go to the left side of your paper and draw another oval in the direction of your choice.
Draw ears on one end of the ovals. Draw fluffy tails on the opposite end. Use circles or dots for eyes and small circles for feet.
What are your bunnies doing? Are they eating? What do bunnies eat? Draw as many details of your yard as you can think of. Color your picture with crayons. Remember, bunnies come in many colors. Find a place to hang your work of art!
Week 5: "PJ's On My Teddy Bear"
Supplies- Large White Paper
Crayons or Markers
Find your Favorite Teddy, doll, or stuffed animal.
You will draw a picture of it using a dark crayon. What shapes do you see? This helps you to draw.
What do your favorite PJ's look like?Draw your PJ's onto your picture.
Carefully color in with marker or crayon. Perhaps someone can take a picture of you in your PJ's holding the drawing you just created!
Week 5:"Crazy hair Day" Portrait
Supplies: Large White Paper
Crayons or any Colorful Media
Place your paper the tall way. Decide who you will draw with crazy hair
Draw a large oval a little lower than the middle of the paper to make room for plenty of hair.
Hair can be straight, curly, frizzy, long, short, or all of these things.
If you care to get really fancy, how about patterns or designs on your hair?
Color in and enjoy the fun your picture brings. Wouldn't it also be fun to draw pictures of crazy hair on animals!
Week 5: "Superheroes Away!"
Supplies: Pencils/erasers
Colored pencils or Markers
Do you know someone who is a superhero or are your favorite superheroes from fiction?
Place your paper the tall or wide way according to your artistic plan.
Draw your superhero in his/her special clothes. Give examples through your picture of the brave and good things this hero accomplishes Try to have a full and action packed artwork. I am sure your drawing will be full of excitement! Color in carefully.
Maybe you can turn your hero into a comic strip. Fold a paper into blocks and have fun!
Kindergarten
Week: "Showers and Rainbows"
Supplies- small white paper
white crayon or candle
color crayons
watercolor paint
Place the paper the wide way in front of you.
With the white crayon or candle draw a line through the middle of the paper from the left side to the right side.
below that line, pressing hard, draw several large puddle shapes covering the bottom half of the paper. Draw smaller puddle shapes within the larger shapes.
Draw a rainbow above the center line, but touching that center line at each end of the rainbow. Color the rainbow in pressing firmly with the crayons. Add raindrops coming down with the white crayon or candle.
Wet the blue watercolor with lots of water, you want it very wet. Fill your brush with lots of paint and go over the entire paper, even the crayon work. Try not to have puddles, you can soak them up with a tissue.
Your paper should light up your picture with rain shower creating a rainbow and hitting the surface water, thus creating the puddle shapes. Happy Earth Day Week!
Grade One
Week: "Pond Life"
Supplies- large white paper
color crayons
watercolor paint, but not necessary
Place the paper the wide way in front of you. Using a dark crayon, trace your open hand in for or five places covering your paper BUT do not go up and down your fingers.
Place a dot at the bottom of each shape. Draw three lines fanning out from the dot to edge of the shapes. these will be lily pads floating on a pond.
Think of the creatures that live in a pond. Creatures like frogs, turtles, insects, fish, etc.
Color in with crayon . If you have paint, try to paint the water blue, otherwise, color with blue crayon. Soon our local ponds will be full of life like your artwork!Have a Happy Earth Day Week!
Week 6: "Nature"s Art Palette"
Supplies- cool stuff found in nature such as cones acorns , acorn caps, twigs dry leaves, stones, etc.
Take a nature walk in your yard or with your family on a favorite trail. Bring a bag or basket to hold your discoveries.
When you are back home, find a special place on the ground that you can clear to create an art space. This will be your canvas.
Create a picture or design by placing your cool stuff in an arrangement. These things are not glued down and you can arrange and rearrange to your heart's desire.
Perhaps someone can take a photo of your completed art. Regardless of that, natural art is meant to be left as it is and will slowly return back to nature. In the meantime, the fairies and gnomes will enjoy it and find ways to use some of these items usefully. Happy Earth Day Week!
Grade Three
Week 6: "Nature Rocks!"
Supplies- rocks of all shapes and sizes
white glue
markers or paint
When you are outside playing or taking a walk, watch for interesting stones and rocks of all shapes and sizes. You can do this for several days or at your convenience.
The day before you are ready to do this art lesson, wash the rocks off in a bucket of water outside and let them dry.
Find a nice flat spot outside with not too much debris on it.
Stones can be a lot like clouds, you can see things in their shapes. You can build or put together your ideas.
Place rocks to create your ideas, don't be too quick to use glue so you can rearrange when necessary to change or to improve your idea. If you want your artwork to return to nature, don't use glue at all.
Use markers or paint to give color and details to your final product. Have a Happy Earth Day Week!
