Kindergarten - "Picasso's Hand Holding Flowers"
Supplies: large white paper, crayons or markers.
A famous artist named Picasso created a lovely painting showing a hand holding flowers.
1. With a dark crayon , in the middle of the paper, draw a hand as large as you own. If you find this difficult, trace your own hand. Try to add the fingernails.
2. Draw several different sized circles above the hand, filling that space. These will be the flower centers. Add round, pointy, and oval petals to the flower centers.
3. Draw sturdy or double line stems from each flower going down to the hand, then behind (you won't see these lines) and on down below the hand. Add leaves to all parts of the stems.
4. Use your imagination to add details to your drawing. Color your picture in. Use the side of a peeled crayon to fill the background in with color. It is spring now and you may see flowers like yours growing very soon.
Grade 1 "Loopy Pictures"
Supplies: Large white paper dark crayon to draw with, color crayons
1. With a dark crayon start to draw a curved line and create a page full of many loops. Count slowly to 6 and stop.
2. Look at the design you created and try to find familiar objects in it, the way you look for pictures in clouds. Turn your paper in different directions as you look and this will help.
3. As you identify objects, add the details.When you are done, color these in.
4. Add color to any empty loops or shapes and fill in the background. How many objects did you find?
Grade 2- "Art of Mondrian"
A famous artist whose name was Mondrian was known for the abstract paintings he created with straight lines and simple colors. large white paper, ruler, crayons or markers
1. With a black crayon or marker, trace the ruler on both sides going all the way to the top and all the way down to the bottom. Do the same going from left to right. Color these lines black.
2. Color in the spaces that you created with yellow , red, and blue. Use a different color for each space. Leave the background white. Where could hang your abstract design?
Grade 3-"Van Gogh's Bedroom"
Vincent Van Gogh was a famous artist who was known for the textures he created in his paintings.
Supplies large white paper, crayon, marker, or any other colorful medium you might have.
1. Draw your own bedroom. Details would be things such as furniture, rugs, favorite objects, etc., not too many, keep it simple. Remember not to forget items on the walls or windows.
2. Color your picture in lightly. go back and add short lines over these colors, pressing harder. This will create a texture similar to Van Gogh's style. He was also known for a painting of his bedroom.
