The SAIS Academic & College Counseling program from Grades 9-12 provides a structured framework through which students can successfully begin their university research.
In Grade 9, our focus is on self-awareness and reflection. These initial skills and understanding built throughout Grade 9 will be of crucial importance for making good 'fit' choices for university study later in Grade 12. As one SAIS graduate said, "Start early, but more importantly, start by understanding yourselves!"
In Grade 10, our students begin their discovery of future options, starting with some supported university research as part of their course selection process (reviewing and considering university requirements for their Grade 11-12 pathway decisions).
In Grade 11, the deep university research work begins - with dedicated advisory sessions, parent/guardian evenings, and 1:1 individual support in exploring university options.
And finally in Grade 12, we continue to provide individualised support in preparing students to make their final decisions on where to apply, find their best 'fit' choices, and ultimately decide where to enrol!
What subject / class am I enjoying the most?
What academic and personal strengths do I have?
What programs at university might involve my interests and strengths? (your 'fit'!)
Which universities offer these programs, and where can they also match my personal 'fit' factors (from location, to student life, to finance!)
