Many Canadian universities have two rounds of applications. They offer a "priority" round in November, and a "regular" round sometime in January or February. Applying in priority means that you are considered for more merit scholarship and hear back earlier. It can be a good option if Canada is your top choice destination.
We have many students successfully apply in the regular round - priority is an option, not a requirement.
Most funding in Canada is from merit-based scholarships that are automatically considered for alongside your application. Check individual university websites for more information.
Scholarships Canada has a database of various scholarships.
Many Canadian universities offer a "co-op". This is a full-time, PAID work experience related to your field of study. Co-ops typically last 4-8 months and you will intern at 2-3 different companies. You can do a co-op in Canada or elsewhere in the world. At some schools, getting a co-op is a selective process.
If you are applying to schools in Ontario, you can apply via the Ontario University Application Centre (OUAC).
If you are applying to schools in British Columbia, you can apply via EducationPlannerBC.
Outside of these provinces, you can apply directly to the individual universities.
Some courses require a "supplemental application". These are often courses in business or engineering, which are more selective and have a lower acceptance rate. The supplemental application could include an interview, a video introduction, and/or short essay responses.
