The Family Business
By: Josiah Vann
Andrew Marinos belongs to a traditionalist family run by his father, who runs a small but growing family restaurant chain. His father, Antonio, wants Andrew to follow in the business, but Andrew feels differently because he has other passions and desires that should not exclude him from tradition and legacy. It takes another family member to balance the scales and be the voice of reason.
Bedroom Walls
By: Erin Smith
This story takes the reader through the various thought processes that I had at different stages of my life. As I changed, so did my perspective, and so did the colors of my bedroom walls. In a sense, it is my testimony told through colors. Our spaces say a lot about ourselves; they are a reflection of who we are. I hope and pray that your room is a healthy one.
Roseau
By: Ashlyn Harwell
I wrote “Roseau” for one of my Writing Fiction class assignments this semester. The assignment was to pick a place you don’t know anything about and write about it as if you had been there or what you think it’s like from only seeing pictures. I thought about different places I saw on TV or places I always wanted to go and looked up “islands” in the Google search bar. Roseau came up. It was so beautiful that I knew I wanted to write a story within the setting. I wanted this to be a light-hearted story since that is what I link with beaches and summer. I decided to have Roseau explored by two young characters to make everything seem even sweeter and brighter since that is often the lens children see through. Growing up with a younger sibling in northeast Florida, I put many memories into this story of bickering, going to the beach, and the rush of mischievousness and competition fueled by summertime.
