Maintaining an ongoing contact log is critical to track information and exchanges between parents and staff. These contacts must be documented in each student's EDPlan contact log:
Phone/text conversations with parents - only use district/school phones or devices, do not provide parents with your personal cell phone number for them to call or text - you can set up a Google Voice number under your school email account for voice calls, and use Google Chat for text conversations
Email conversations with parents - only use your school email address
Hallway or face to face conversations with parents, outside of a formal meeting with notes (use your professional judgment - casual greetings don't require this)
Any items mailed from the school or given to the student to take home for signatures
Document chronic absences to demonstrate why services were not provided
Record any discipline actions taken and reported to parents
