Every summer, a group of students and teachers go on an excursion to explore different parts of the world! This past summer, a group explored the Northeast area of the United States, visiting New York, Maine, Vermont, and New Hampshire!
First stop was in New York at Rock City Park to enjoy the interesting rock features. This park is located near Allegheny State Park.
Next up was hiking the trails of Haystack Mountain in the Green Mountain National Forest of Vermont.
They visited the Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge Research Station and went lobstering in Maine! They also saw several historic forts, light houses, and harbor seals!
Next they toured the Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island and then visited Cadillac Mountain and the town of Bar Harbor, ME.
They boarded a high-speed catamaran for a 3-5 hour whale watching tour on the Gulf of Maine!
In the morning they took a Cog Railroad to the top of Mount Washington and later visited the New York State Museum of national history.
They visited the Ace of Diamonds Mine in Middleville, NY and searched for Herkimer diamonds; at night time they enjoyed the view of Niagara Falls State Park lit up!
They arrived back in Indiana, but not before stopping at a scenic spot along Lake Erie!
Enjoy pictures that Mrs. Merkling took on their trip East!
