SACS Websites HAVE A NEW LOOK
SACS has new websites up and running for each of the district's 9 schools. We think you will find our new Homestead page to be user-friendly and full of useful information.
On the webpage, you can find events and news for Homestead sports, a list of activities/extracurriculars, and a calendar of school dates (teacher-in-service days, flex days, breaks). Seniors can find important resources on scholarships, financial aid, college applications, and useful opportunities under the Guidance tab. The Resources tab has links useful for students and parents; for students, the page includes lunch menus, bell schedules, the course description guide, and the semester grade calculator. As for parents, there is a link to ParentSquare, lunch money payments, immunizations, and more.
ParentSquare
SACS has implemented a new communication platform called ParentSquare (PSQ). Hopefully you have been receiving texts and emails from Homestead's Parent Square account. PSQ aims to bring more awareness about school-related information to parents.
Homestead will send a variety of ParentSquare messages including mass notifications, classroom posts, one-to-one messages, and more.
PSQ does not replace Canvas, but will replace other communication channels like Remind and Class Dojo. Other schools that use this service include Fort Wayne Community Schools and Huntington Schools. Here is a short introduction to PSQ.
Dress Code Updates
It is our goal that Homestead High School be a safe and positive environment for all students. Throughout life many responsibilities dictate appropriate attire and appearance. Students are expected to wear their clothing and manage their appearance in a manner that does not disrupt teaching.
Exposed shoulders, backs, or midriffs are not allowed at any time. Shirt collars should be no lower than the top of the student’s armpit. All shirts must have sleeves that cap the shoulder. Examples of shirts not to be worn include: muscle shirts, tank tops, tube tops, spaghetti straps, crop tops, visible undergarments, and see-through tops
Hats, hoods, bandanas, sweatbands, sunglasses, headgear, pajama pants, slippers and/or blankets of any kind should not be worn, or be visible, upon entry into the school and throughout the end of the academic school day (2:30 p.m.).
