28 February 2024, 1st lesson
Today I learnt that the exploration of space is important to improve our current technology, to discover new ways of aquiring resources as well as to find new habitable planets which can replace earth. It was fun researching the topic and collaborating with my classmates to make a slideshow. This activity was very interactive but some guiding questions could be added to guide students to the answers. Overall, this was a very fun first lesson and I hope to attend more lessons in this club. :)
6 March 2024, 2nd lesson
Today I learnt about the reasons to explore space through other groups presentations and doing some research on it for my groups presentation which were to find new resources, increase the amount of space that people can live in and gain more of known resources that are rare on earth. I was nervous at first to present my slides as I though the other groups did better but I eventually managed to retain composure and I think that I did well. It was a little fun presenting but I think this lesson can be improved if after the presentations, the student leaders could give us some advice on it and also tell us if our slides were accurate. Overall, this was another fun lesson and I hope to attend more when Term 2 starts. :)
27 March, 4th lesson
Today I learnt about the history of astronomy and astrophysics, as well as the details of all the planets in the solar system, and even the criterias that needed to be met for a celestial body to be classified as a planet. I also started to take notes and created a document to store them into. It was a fun experience as I got to learn so many new things about our solar system and we even played a fun quiz in the end. This was a very fun and interesting lesson indeed but I feel that it could be improved with more visuals added to the slides. :)

3rd April, 5th lesson
Today I learnt about Spherical Trigonometry and a brief introduction of Newtons's law of gravitation, Kepler's Laws for circular and non-circular orbits, Roche Limit, The Two Body Problem, Lagrange Points and Equinox. Although this lesson was dense and the part about Spherical Trigonometry was a little boring and involved a lot of formulas, I still enjoyed this lesson greatly as it gave me the opportunity to learn so much new things about astronomy. I think this lesson could be improved by adding more visuals to the slides.
17 April, 6th lesson
Today I learnt about the history of spaceflight, the different kinds of orbits and how a rocket engine works. In my opinion, the presenter did a good job of making this lesson interesting even though it was information-heavy and had a lot of slides. We even got to do a small group project of researching the history of spaceflight which was fun. However, I feel that this lesson could be improved if we had more time to go through the information. :)
24 April, 7th lesson
Today I learnt about binary star systems, their evolutions and ways that we can observe them. We also learnt the doppler effect and spectrography on the way. This lesson was very fun as we got to run our own simulation with goals related to binary star systems that we had to reach on NSTMF and also had a quiz in the end. I feel like this lesson could be improved if the presenter was a bit louder as she was a bit soft and if she went through the slides more thoroughly. :)
8 May, 8th lesson
Today I learnt about electromagnetic waves and radio communication. At the end of the presentation, we even got to do an activity about radio communication. This lesson was fun and interactive while being rich in information too. I feel like this lesson could be improved if the presenters went a bit slower but overall I would like more lessons that were like this.
27 June,
Today we learnt about orbital mechanics (eg. perihelion and aphelion)and the events that our seniors took part in . After that, we watched a video on how Kepler made his three laws and received our STEAM accounts which contained Kerbal Space Program and Universe Sandbox. The presentation on the events was interesting and engaging but I feel that it could be improved by simplifying some of the information.
10 July,
Today we learnt about galaxies (eg. categorisation, make-up, equation to find out mass) and dark matter. We even played a Blooklet quiz at the end. Although the information in the slides were simple and easy to understand as well as the quiz at the end being fun, I feel that the presentation was a little boring and could be improved by the addition of videos or diagrams.
17 July,
Today we learnt about some of the upcoming events for the club and stellar properties. After that, we logged in to to our Steam accounts to play Kerbal Space Program. Although the first part of the lesson which was about the upcoming events was engaging, I feel that the lesson on stellar properties was a bit dull and boring and could be improved by adding videos and diagrams.
31 July,
Today we learnt about phenomena such as tides, auroras, eclipses and meteor shower. We also learnt about different measurements of time (Julian Year, Sidereal Days, Solar Years, Universal Coordinate Time, Terestriel Time ect) We also played a Kahoot quiz on phenomena we learnt about. Although this lesson was engaging, I feel that the lesson on the different measurements of time was a little too confusing and complex. I think that it could be improved by choosing a differet topic that is easier to understand.
7 August,
Today we learnt about accretion, centrifugal force, Roche Limit and watched a video on the death of sun. We also played several quizzes on varying topics such as accretion, the sun and the milky way galaxy. I feel that this lesson was extremely engaging but could be improved by including videos or having more content.
14 August,
Today we learnt about nuclear physics (eg. nuclear fussion, nuclear fission, radiation ect) and the interstellar medium, At the end, we played one Kahoot quiz on nuclear physics and one Blooket quiz on nebulas. I think that this lesson was very fun but could be improved with more content, adding videos and including further reading materials.
23 October,
Today we completed the Sec 1 End-Of-Year test. I am quite happy with my test results of 72% considering that there were a wide variety of topics tested and we had learnt a lot of imformation. After that, we went through the CCA syllables for the next few years and the changes that were coming. I am excited for the upcoming changes coming to the CCA and plan to attend them.
8 Jan 2025,
Today we went through the new programmes and teaching syllables in the club and after that, we went through a brief introduction of the Solar System and its formation as well as the Milky Way Galaxy and its neighbours. At the end, we did a Kahoot on the topics that we learnt. I am excited as there were many new programmes and activities that were announced
15 Jan 2025,
Today we learnt about the Earth, specifically the different layers of both the atmosphere and the lithosphere, tectonic plates and general specifics of the planet. After that, we did both a short quiz in person and another online on Blooket which I managed to get first place in. Finally, we had a short introduction to Universe Sandbox. Although the lesson was engaging and fun, I feel that the lesson was too simple and you could elaborate more on the specific topics.
26 Feb 2025,
Today we attended a talk by NASA scientist Dr. Poh. on space weather. Specifically, solar flares, Coronal Mass Ejections, the effects they cause on Earth and how the Earth's magnetic field shields us from them. The talk was very engaging and interactive and it was an enjoyable experience to listen to it. Overall, this session taught me many things and was very fun.
