28/2/2024: I have learnt how to do research and use Google Slides. I have enjoyed working with my team and researching life on other planets. Moreover, we got the chance to use our format for our slides, go home, do it ourselves, and present next week. What can be improved is getting more people into our team and doing one specific topic, so there will be fewer presentations about the same topic. Overall, This was a fun astronomy lesson that was great on most points.
6/3/2024: We presented our slides to the S1 astro cohort on why we explore space. I was the presenter, and my job was to talk about the slides. Moreover, I thought I was a good presenter as I managed to captivate the audience with my presenting skills as I practised a lot in my speech. Although I was the one who did all the work, I was still ok with it as my group mates helped me correct my mistakes. We spent a lot of time on the slides, which was the best. I wished that presenting to the S1 cohort only would be better than presenting to the whole SST astro community so that we could get more points of view. Overall, this was a good Astro session, as I had the chance to present my work and views in front of the S1 cohort.
27 March 2024: we learnt about the history of space, the moon and the solar system through 2 different presentations; after that, we did a booklet quiz to see if we understood the concepts correctly, although I did not make it out at first place, it was still a fun experience to gauge how much we learnt and remembered, it would be better if the presenters could be a bit louder, all in all, thus ws a good Astro session as we got to learn with fun using booklet, I just wished that the presenters could be a bit louder for the first one and a bit slower (the second one)
3 April 2024: we learned about trigonometry ( forgive me, it is the wrong spelling), and it was very hard🥵 but luckily, there were kind people to help me, and then we learned about some astro stuff. We learnt about Newton's third law of gravity and Kepler's third law of idk🤷♂️ although I clearly did not understand anything, it is like every astro session: good. All in all, this is another good Astro session
17 April 2024: we learned about how rockets worked like the engines and about space history throughout the years. Moreover, we learnt about the fails and the success of many rocket missions. One thing that I think can be improved is the fact it is so hot in the ADMT studio that I can't concentrate(I wish we were in the engineering lab). all in all, this is a meh astro session?
24 April 2024: We had a presentation--another one and learnt about binary star systems, and umm, it was interesting. It was a bit boring, though, but we had BLOOKET YEYY! I like Blooket. It is fun, and I can have an account. And we had a space simulator thing, and my universe collapsed??:((( but I still managed to create a universe. AND DESTROY IT>:))). The presentation was boring, though, I wish it could have been more fun. this is good Astro session because got BLOOKET
8 May 2024: athought i missed the lesson, I went for the outreach programme, we learnt about water rockets and our plans and we did the water rockets for real, i was pumping the rockets and they all splashed water on me:((((. Then gaverial gave me the radio and let me play it, and i did not understand half of it cuz it was lagging.funnest session ever
2 month epic montage of no reflections...
10 July 2024: we learnt about galaxies and the different types of galaxies; we learned about black holes and the radiation that nukes emit of something. We also learnt about black holes and how some random particles go through a black hole and particles around it and how it looks like a neutron star, it was quite good except for the fact that the presentation was very sped up and the presenter was very soft. Next time I see the milky way in the sky( if I have the chance) I will know better
17 July 2024: We listened to the events last year and this year, and some of the events the next year; after that, we went to the electronics lab to learn about calculating the brightness of stars. We also learned some calculations about the luminosity of stars, and hopefully, we don't need this for mock test 'hopefully". We also tried to install steam which was not successful due to it saying, "ThE fIlE iS dAmAgEd AnD nEeDs To Be ReMoVeD" like why is it damage and I need steam for astro, besides the steam part the CCA is fine. Wish it wasn't so cold
31 July 2024: We learnt about solar storms, eclipses, and meteor showers and how close we were to a very bad incident with a solar storm. And we got Kahoot, which was fun because I got 2nd place, and Dexter was betting on me. Blooket would be better. And we learnt about the astronomical time of something. And UTC and ATI and people correcting Gavriel about how to pronounce Greenwich and how confused we were. It would be better if we had a booked cuz booklet is goated. Someone told me too that u should enjoy sec 1 cuz that's the only happiest moment u will have in secondary school
7 Aug: What is going on I was at AMC. I think its accretion or smth and i know u all had blooket and Im jealous.
14 August: We learnt about radiation and now I know how to make a bomb and we had kahoot( Blooket would be better) and I lost and ye but we learnt about radio waves and something I could not remember, we had blooket and people got banned for being to OP (womp womp to those people) And we saw universe sandbox and someone crashing their computer. How their computer crashed cuz of a minor supernova, I dont know and we saw other things like black hole and galaxy and we saw mecury crashing into earth and being replaced by a star and a black hole inside the star and a galaxy inside a black hole, That was curseds
23 October 2024: We had our final session of astro for the year, we had a quiz which I falied by 2 marks (gaverial pls lower the passing grade :( And we finally had hands on for next year and no more sudden topics yeyy. And hopefully the next generation of sec 1 are not that brainrotted. So next year we will be sec 2 so no more confused sec 1 excuse and bye bye sec 1 benefits, next year the observeerty will be installed so I hope we will go there and I hope there will be more hands on instead of staying in air con cuz it cold and make me sick so pls more outdoors we were promised that. Hopefully Sanath will be next year chairperson #VOTEFORSANATH i
8 Jan 2025: First lesson of 2025, We recapped the solar system; it was just some basic info about the solar system and some minigames about guessing what type of moon rock and where the place is based on the satellite photo after that, we had some Kahoot, 10th place sadly, I was sitting at the back and couldn't quite catch what the presenters were saying, also I couldn't see the screen so well so I wished they could use the other TVs. Also, I wished it was blooket cuz Blooket is obviously better also I wished they used the mic, the presentation was good and there are lots of minigames unlike last year
15 Jan 2025: More understandable lessons(finally). So we learned about earth and what happens in our home planet which was quite interesting We also had some run-throughs of what will happen this year, and finally, stargazing is confirmed!1!11111!!!! Also, we have a chance to go overseas somewhere for 4 days and 3 nights, and I signed up for astrigue, so now I am going for the radio licence, primary school outreach, and that's all, no Astro olympiad is damn hard, also blooket so yeyy but my luck was trash so I got like 20th place , anyways, better then last year
22 Jan 2025: More about Venus and Mars, which I will not be alive to see becoming habitable; then there was more about the solar system with the gas giants, which of Saturn can float if we have a big enough ocean(not gonna happen soon, then about the gas composition of the gas against(no oxygen unsurprisingly) and then we did blooket and I got triple crypto twice in a row and double crypto also which is an insane W moment cuz mostly very hard to spawn and then we went on a radio hunt where we needed to find doorbell which we cant find cuz they said it could be anywhere in the school, and also only 10 minutes and we didn't stand a chance at finding it but we met the sec 1 at the Astro tryouts and we met Dessen at the canteen and he was making some treats that I did not wanna eat, but already better then last year
12 Feb 2025: So we did a presentation about mining in space, and I think it was okay, and then we learnt about the moon and how it formed, so bascially due to some mars like planet colliding with us and making our planet bigger and the collision was so nasty--like worse than dropping all the nukes on the planet till a part of earth come out and it formed rings around the planet and the biggest one started pulling in the other ones and formed the moon, but it suffered more cuz the planet was hit with, you guessed it, more asteroids, and then it stopped along with more volcanic eruptions and then the moon is what it is today, and then we had BLOOKET YEYY and I got so lucky with so many double triple and I won with 3mil more crypto
19 Feb 2025. So we launched rockets so basically we launched water rockets which made us so wet and the british people also tried which made it quite fun and the cold water kept splashing on me, so we used less water which technically made it go further but puting no water made it worser. So if there is more pressure in the rocket, it will make it move faster and more stabily but of there is too little pressure, the rocket would be unstable, if there is too much pressure, the rocket would break and explode which would be dangerous, so we need to get a good pressure and the best ratio of water to air is
26 Feb 2025: We had a presentation from someone from Singapore and works in the USA, he is an expert in astronomy and heliophysics, so from his slides "The study of the variations in the space enviornment" so it coveres everything from the surface of the, sun,
5 March 2025: We had a recap of term 1 which was so boring that advith decided to let us go toilet or else we would have slept, and it was boring and he refused to let me answer and I basically knew so I was yapping to lucas about how it was unfair that I had to go to vietnam while others can go to china. And no blooket? That was depressing, and also I signed up for a space camp where I have the chance to actually go to it IRL and there was a space falcuty programme where it was in Term 2 and it was 8 sesssions and I signed up. Overall good astro session I wished not so boring
26 March 2025: So we welcomed the sec 1s which was lesser cuz we have too many members, which was sad and then fpr astrigue we had some apparently very simple math ;D which was NOT simple cuz we literally skipped through sec 2 math in like 2 minutes and boom we went so sin cosin tan log and in WHICH WAS FOR SEC 3, OH and that was the easy part cuz we literally went to sec 4 which literally some of the sec 3's strugguled and then BOOM CALCUS and then some random numbers which I didn't even understand and i struggled but its for my team and LITERALLY there were
2 April 2025: More work RIP RIP, So someone showed us a video of gaverial showing some formula but SOMEONE forgot to turn on max volume and I can't hear the video properly, TO ADD FUEL TO THE FIRE, we had a test and apparently we can't talk to our group mates and search the internet, THEN GAVERIAL CAME IN AND SAID WE COULD DISCUSS AND SEARCH UP SO 1 HOUR OF EFFORT TO WASTE RIP RIP. YE BEST ASTRO EXCO TRUST. AND THE FORMULA SHEET WAS MISSING HOW WE GONNA DO THE TEST BRUH
9th april 2025: EVEN MORE WORK RIP, yea so gaverial asked someone from NUS high to
16 April 2025: No more astrigue yey :D and also a presentation of galaxies that were actually good nice animations and effects, which uses canva, interesting
23 April 2025: We learnt about galaxies and
30 April 2025: we learnt about galaxies and had a good laugh it was fun as we could make our own slides and present and kai feng proceeded to literally add 1 million memes and GIFs in the slides and it was quite nice to see other people presentation and the blooket was OP and I lost why RIP , even though its like so wordy its fine they say but the session was boring with only 10 people and I guess the blooket was okay but like 10 people is boring and zander wasn't doing anything while tessa was carrying the entire CCA session next time maybe add some humor and not like blah blah blah and more interesting activities, instead of blooket every time and maybe next time less boring and more engaging and overall like 8/10 so little people was here gaverial was better
7 May 2025: We learnt about black holes and quasars and that black holes are so dense when a star collapses that even light can't escape and we watched a video by kurzgesagt- in a nutshell which is the only educational channel I will watch and black holes are like you swimming on a waterfall, u can swim until the point of no return where like no force strong enough can help you escape the force of a black hole and he went on about the information paradox and then we stopped, insane L cuz that guy is the best and then about qusars so basically they can spread their energy out or put in in one straight beam which the beam is deadly very deadly and can destroy anything except for a black hole in its path, and then blooket which I messed up A LOT and then more gambling on blooket where 2 legendaries and 4 epics but no megalodon (its been like 3 months alr) and overall It was good but I wish Tessa taught cuz it would be more fun and I forgot my water bottle so rip
14 May 2025: We learnt about galaxies and galactic evolution, the first part was about galaxies and how they formed and there was a time where the universe was so dense, infinitely hot and compressed, time, gravity, laws and physics didn't exist like now, until it for some unknown reason expanded and kept on expanding and expanding, and then it came to now and fun fact 95% of all stars that will ever been made were made because when the universe was veryb young there were mostly heavy metals which means stars that time have short lifetimes (Yes the end of the universe is starting) and that only 3 stars in the milky way form every year, and the next part, what if the milky way and andremodea collided with each other? Well it would be chaotic all matter will be flying everywhere, and everything will be in a mess, and then the 2 black holes will collide causing a quasar or even a blazar, and then the best case scenario is that the solar system will be 20,000 light years from what it was orignally, or worst case secnario it will be thrown out of the new galaxy. It was good overall but the change of venues was so inconvenient
23 July 2025: so we started pretty chill with some astro board game where we got some random rovers and stuff to get to moon and gravel came in and he look mentally drained probably from his O-level training stuff and after that we had a presentation of doppler shift which I luckly knew from my illustratum competition it came in clutch so hard and after that some form
