DISTANCE LEARNING:

Creativity Amid Covid

"Mobile World Virus" by TVBOY in Barcelona, Spain.

Welcome to Art Class from a Distance!

Join me for Distance Learning (Mrs. Bates- Art Explore and 8th Grade Elective, Google Classroom code: gdkjbvx) starting Monday, April 13.

Each Monday, I will 'drop' a weekly presentation and assignment into our Google Classroom. Each week, you will:

  • View a presentation
  • Take "Visual Notes" (starting Week 2 when we get our sketchbooks)
  • Complete the assignments/practice/projects in your sketchbook (some assignments will be optional for 7th grade)
  • Photograph and upload your assignment into Artsonia and write a brief artist statement
  • View your classmates work on our Artsonia Gallery

Each week, 7th graders should plan to spend about 1 hour on this class, 8th graders should plan to spend 2 hours. If you find yourself needing more time than that to get your assignments in on time and you feel stressed about it, please email me.

I will be available for questions via email and will make every effort to get back to you within 24 hours on weekdays. I will also hold digital office hours on Wednesdays between 11:50 and 12:20 if you would like to meet face-to-face via Google Hangouts.

Also, I am using this site to organize our lessons. Please do not work on assignments before the start date. I will be making a lot of changes before they are launched, and I wouldn't want you to have to start something over.

Please click the link below for the current week's assignments.

Stay healthy! I miss seeing your faces!
