Safe Sport refers to policies, education, and reporting systems designed to:
Prevent abuse and misconduct
Promote athlete safety and well-being
Establish clear behavioral expectations
Provide confidential reporting pathways
USATF follows the policies and jurisdiction of the U.S. Center for SafeSport, the national organization responsible for addressing abuse and misconduct in Olympic and Paralympic sports.
USATF Nebraska is committed to providing a safe, positive, and respectful environment for all participants. Athlete well-being is our highest priority.
As a member association of USA Track & Field, we fully support and enforce national Safe Sport policies designed to protect athletes from abuse, misconduct, and unsafe practices.
All members—athletes, coaches, officials, and volunteers—are expected to uphold the highest standards of conduct.
To maintain compliance and protect athletes:
All coaches working with youth athletes must complete Safe Sport training.
Required members must complete a background screening.
Officials and other adult participants may also be subject to compliance requirements depending on their role.
Membership status is contingent upon meeting these national standards.
Athlete safety is a shared responsibility. Parents, coaches, officials, and athletes are encouraged to:
Understand Safe Sport policies
Maintain professional boundaries
Communicate openly and respectfully
Report concerns promptly
We are committed to fostering an environment where all participants feel safe, valued, and respected.
If you have concerns about misconduct, abuse, or inappropriate behavior:
Reports involving abuse or sexual misconduct should be made directly to the U.S. Center for SafeSport.
Other policy or conduct concerns may be reported to USATF through official channels.
If an athlete is in immediate danger, call local law enforcement.
USATF Nebraska takes all reports seriously and supports the national investigative process.
