USATF Nebraska coaches play a critical role in athlete development at every level of the sport—from youth track & field to open, masters, and long distance running. Coaches are leaders, educators, and mentors who shape both performance and character.
USATF Nebraska supports coaches through education, certification pathways, and access to national coaching resources.
A USATF Coach membership provides:
Eligibility to coach at USATF-sanctioned competitions
Access to USATF coaching education programs
Insurance coverage while participating in sanctioned activities
Alignment with nationally recognized rules and standards
Support from the Nebraska association and national USATF network
Membership demonstrates a commitment to professionalism, athlete safety, and ongoing development.
USATF offers structured coaching education programs designed to promote long-term athlete development and best practices.
Opportunities may include:
Sport science and fundamentals courses

In-person or virtual certification programs
Continuing education requirements
Certification pathways are managed at the national level, with local support available through USATF Nebraska.
All coaches working with youth athletes must complete:
Safe Sport training
Required background screening
Current USATF membership

To coach athletes at USATF-sanctioned competitions, individuals must:
Hold a current USATF Coach membership
Be in good standing with Safe Sport and background screening requirements
