Step 1. Ghost lines should be light
Step 2. Fine lining should be neat
Step 3. Light colour tone. This is basically a very light base tone
Step 4. Dark edge colour tone that follows the black fine line
Step 5. Blending should fade the dark edge line (step 4) to the light tones in the middle

These designs are all half finished - only one side of each has been rendered completely. Some shadows and blending is missing.
Notice the blending - some is complete and so has not been finished yet.
