Thank you to our amazing PTSO & all of our RSU5 families for a delicous Staff Appreciation lunch!
Dear Class of 2026 Senior Families,
Monday begins a slightly new chapter for our Class of 2026 Seniors as they will begin Senior Projects and May Term. We are excited for these unique learning opportunities for our Seniors and it will be a great way to end their high school careers. Before we know it, Senior Week and graduation will be here and we are really excited to celebrate this wonderful group of soon to be graduates!
As we approach the month of June and graduation day, we will be sending detailed information in the coming weeks about events and logistics for Senior events, Senior Week plans, Graduation logistics and Project Grad information. It's important to continue to check email to stay up to date on event information and deadlines. Here's some initial information for Seniors :
Class dues are funds that each Senior pays in order to support the Senior Week and graduation events. Dues were $200 per student in years past but have been reduced to $50 per student this year due to the strong fundraising efforts of our students and families. Seniors can bring the payment to the main office (cash or check...we unfortunately do not have Venmo or an online payment method) prior to June 5th. If any student needs a fee waiver, Seniors will receive a form to complete as we have funding to support this need.
The Junior/Senior Prom is Saturday May 16th at 7:00pm at the Falmouth Country Club and tickets go on sale at school lunches next week. Ticket prices and selling times will be shared next week.
Academic Awards Night for grades 9-12 is Tuesday May 19th at 5:30pm in the FPAC. Any student receiving an academic award will be notified to attend.
Senior Project and May Term presentations are June 1st through June 5th. Detailed information and presentation schedules will be sent to all families as family members are invited to attend the presentations. All 12th grade programs and classes are done on June 5th.
Senior Scholarship Night is Tuesday June 2nd at 5:30pm in the FPAC. Any student receiving a scholarship will be notified to attend. (**We have TONS of scholarship deadlines approaching so Seniors are STRONGLY encouraged to apply! All scholarships are listed on our guidance website)
Senior week is June 8th to June 12th. Our Senior Class Officers and Senior Class Advisor Mr. McKeon are working hard on planning Senior Week events and here is the general outline of events. More detailed information about each event will be emailed soon. **FYI that sign ups will be required and there will be firm deadlines for each event off school grounds as we must have accurate numbers of attendees for buses and reservations.**
Mon. 6/8: Graduation rehearsal (mandatory) (8-9:30) & Senior Boat cruise (10am-2pm)
Tues. 6/9: Urban Air trip (9am-1pm) and Senior Family Night/Senior video 6-8pm
Wed. 6/10 : Graduation rehearsal (mandatory) (8-9:30), Senior Breakfast 9:30-11am
Thurs. 6/11: Graduates and Morse St Carnival day, 9-2pm, (rain date for Family night)
Fri. 6/12: Bus parade of graduates 9-10:30am (visiting each RSU5 school)
Graduation is Saturday June 13th at 10am at the Merrill Auditorium in Portland. All Seniors are required to ride the bus to the Merrill and must be at FHS by 8am. The ceremony usually ends by 11:45am.
Project Grad is an event hosted by FHS Senior parents and a separate email with information about the event will be sent out in the coming weeks.
Senior Week Volunteer Opportunities:
As an FYI, we will need parent/guardian chaperones for the following events and would love your help! Volunteer sign up forms will be sent to all families with the Senior Week detailed information.
Songo River Queen boat cruise
Urban Air
Senior Breakfast (lots of help needed for cooking and serving)
Project Grad
(There are many other events and celebrations occurring in the month of May and information about each event will be sent to students and families! Events are listed on the district's evening events calendar at RSU5.org)
Graduation Tickets:
Next week, we will send out a form to order graduation tickets. Every graduate gets 8 tickets to graduation at the Merrill Auditorium. All of these tickets are “General Admission” as there are no assigned ticket numbers or seats (it’s first come, first serve for the seats). If a family needs more than 8 tickets, Seniors are welcome to request extras and we try to fulfill all requests. We will likely be able to fill all requests for as many tickets as you need (luckily the Merrill Auditorium has a ton of seats). There is no cost for any graduation ticket. The Merrill has a number of reserved seats for ADA seating with one companion and ADA seating requests will be on the ticket order form.
The ticket order form will be sent to Seniors only, as tickets are only given to the students to distribute to family members.
We will send LOTS more information and details about Senior Week and Graduation in the coming weeks that will likely answer questions that you may have. We appreciate your support for our soon to be graduates of the Class of 2026 and are excited to celebrate all of their accomplishments very soon.
Best regards,
Jen Gulko

The start of a new school year is a great time to take a look at the FHS Student Handbook.
FHS classrooms have shifted to a digital hall pass system called Orange Pass. All students sign out digitally to leave class for any reason. This system is replacing our paper sign out system and helps to monitor the location of our students and the "traffic" during class periods in the hallways. We have added Faculty Hall Monitors this year as well to help maintain the safety of the halls and school building. If you have any questions about the online pass system or logistics of the building, please reach out to Principal Jen Gulko (gulkoj@rsu5.org) or Asst. Principal Charlie Mellon (mellonc@rsu5.org).
