Photography 1

FINAL SUMMARY PORTFOLIO REFLECTION

At the end of this semester, when I look back at times, I've learned a lot from this class of photography. This builds my experience and introduced me to this field. Moreover, while I was doing the midterm, I reflected on myself, overall these skills that I have used, what is interesting is that these compositions became somewhat of an instinct for me as a new photographer. If I look back into time from now, I found this understanding that all this knowledge I've learned in this class connected in purpose to build my skills. It seems all reasonable that no building was built without a strong base, I relate a lot.

The work shows my improvemnt throughout the whole semster by showing a step to step growth of my skillset, for example, in photo edit, you can see that I am new to the composition and the use of angles, but next you can see in the digital composition, that I became more experience and I am more confident taken picture using different compositions. Something that challenged me the most in this semster is the editing in Photoshop, for example, in the project of photo montage, the final result is composed of different images together to layer on one image. And creating a different feeling from it, it is also very hard because you have to pay attention to the deatils to and layers, or it wouldn't match up or it wouldn't show through, this is a challenge in time and patient. Something that I am most proud of is the photo montage, because I put great efforts in it, I took a lot of image, and I reseacrched for a lot of image, and I have to take time to carefully photoshoped them into 1 final image, this took a lot of work, but the result came out good. My work illsutrated my growth because while taking time to phtooshop each one and finding the right composition, something I learned is to be more patient, being patient helps me a lot in this class because I realized in order have a good result of whatever you're doing, patient is something you will need while you feel rushed or impatient, patient is something I grew in this class.

When it comes to analyzing my work, I like to start from each element of the picture. For example, different angles and props in my photo can make its difference standout to finish its uniqueness. For every of my work, I put a strong effort into each one. Some example of my work in this midterm that reflected my effort could be the piece of silhouette; it is always a challenge to find a good contrast between different light source to make the effect of silhouette, a brief analysis of this work from the perspective of the element, I used unique lighting and negative space.

I would like to interpret my work from my perspective. For every of my work, I used 3 similar steps while crafting each one: think, ask and do. Thinking could be interpreted as the process of planning and listing out ideas of what kind of photo and what composition skills can I used, and tried to come up with a result of "how". Ask can be interpreted as the process of asking what is the goal of the project, I could either ask myself, or I can seek help from the teacher to get a clear idea. Do is the process of where actions happen, in that stage, I enforce my plan, take pictures to meet my goal.

For myself criticizing this work, I would say I meet my standard, that all my photo has performed each criterion in somewhat degree, in different depth I show a good knowledge of composition and all of my work in this midterm project shows a good level of elements in it. Something that I could change next time would be having to find a better place to take the photo, that is where I struggle the most.
