Positive and Negative space

This is my project of the unique lighting, the trees under sky, I've taken all the picture. In this project, I had to be think of how to take a negative space image, so I ended up using the composition of silhoette, which in some ways this is a struggle because in order to take picture of silhoette you have to find a object that is big enough to represent the dominent negative space in the photo and you have to find a perfect light source and you shoot directly into in. In this case the object big enough are the trees, and the lightsource is sunlight.

In lightroom, I dragged the black and white all to -100 and lower the highlight, the I open up photoshop, I first copied a layer of orginal, then I used color range to select the tree because its black, then I limited the selection to some part of the tree and I filled it in with white, because there is no positive space, or else it is just gonna be a silhoette but nothing different. Then I match the color using adjustment, and played around with the curve tool, and thats all.

Something I learned in this project is how use black and white in lightroom, and how highlight can change a image, and I also learn how to fill solid color into selection, and how to use color range to select the selection and how to limit the selection using mask tool or command j. This also relates to my concertration because it is a landscape and it definitely shows the beauty of nature.
