Curriculum Information
The School is mindful of Department for Education guidance regarding Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural (SMSC) education and the importance of embedding fundamental values of:
- democracy
- the rule of law
- individual liberty
- mutual respect
- tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs
These values are represented in the teaching of many subjects in our curriculum but with particular emphasis in Religious Studies, History, Personal, Social, Health and Careers Education (PSHCE) and of course in assemblies.
The physical wellbeing of students is given a high priority through extensive curricular and extra-curricular provision in PE/Games (indeed 3 hours per week in Year 9) and again, through PSHCE. Safeguarding and the welfare of students underpins the work of all staff.
