Approval Process for EdTech Products
LearnPlatform is the edtech product management system used in Rowland Unified to analyze and verify that technology tools are quality educational resources AND meet federal and state student privacy standards. EVERY edtech application, product, website, extension, and app you use must be approved through LearnPlatform.
LearnPlatform Overview
LearnPlatform is designed to support educators and other stakeholders in knowing which edtech products have been approved for use in Rowland Unified. Technology tools will be approved through LearnPlatform if they align to district instructional goals for educational quality, are compatible with our network and devices, AND meet all federal and state guidelines (FERPA, CIPA, and COPPA).
Educators can access LearnPlatform by going to: http://rowlandschools.app.learnplatform.com. From there, you can search to find approved edtech products that you can use in your classroom. If the request window is open, you will also be able to request new products to be reviewed. Check out the video below to learn more about LearnPlatform.

RUSD's LearnPlatform Review Process
Using LearnPlatform
Step 1: Visit LearnPlatform to check a product's approval status
Before using an edtech product (software application, website, extension, app, etc), visit the RUSD District Library in LearnPlatform and log in with your district Google credentials. Use the search bar or filters at the top of the page to find the product you are looking for.
The image to the left shows the different approval statuses used in the district. Below is a description of what each status means:
Access Expired: Previously this product was conditionally approved, however a request for review was never submitted. Access has therefore expired and the product cannot be used until it is fully vetted and reviewed.
Alternate Product Available: This product has been denied because there is a district approved alternate product available.
Approved for Pilot: This product has been approved for pilot use only, by pilot team members only. Status will be updated when the pilot period is over.
Approved for Use: This product is approved for use in RUSD. Please see product details for more information.
Approved with Conditions: This product can be used only if certain conditions are followed. Please see product details for more information.
Reviewed & Denied: Use of this product is not allowed due to security, technical, or instructional concerns. See product details for denied reason(s) and approved alternates if available.
Under Review: This product has been requested and is currently under review by the Ed Services and Technology Services teams. When the review is complete, product status will be updated.
If the product you would like to use IS NOT APPROVED FOR USE, proceed to Step 2 to fill out the request form.
Step 2: Fill out the request form for any product that is not currently approved for use
During the open request window (December 2, 2024 - March 28, 2025), hover over a product's tile then click 'Request' to access the request form. Fill out the form completely, providing as much detail as possible. If there is not enough information for the team to adequately review the request, it will be stopped and returned to you for more information. Please be explicit describing how you plan to use the product and how it supports district goals.
All products are reviewed for educational quality, compatibility with our network and devices, and adherence to federal and state student data privacy laws using this rubric. Check out the videos below to learn more about requesting products for review.
