Which language are you going to take?
A friendly reminder that language classes offered in middle school are high school credit classes and they follow the same curriculum as the high school.
Level 1A is the only the first semester of Level 1. Level 1B will complete the Level 1 class the following year.
Strong study skills and language awareness is needed to take this advanced course as a 6th grader.
So what should you expect by the end of Level 1A?
Students become emergent communicators and will be able to :
understand and respond to simple phrases, statements and questions
identify basic messages, facts, opinions, feelings and ideas presented in oral, visual and written language
demonstrate their comprehension in simple oral and written phrases
convey basic information in a limited range of everyday situations and interpersonal and cultural contexts
begin to be aware that language use is connected to a purpose and an audience.
Units of Study: First Impressions: name, age, nationality, origin, family, personality and physicality, likes and dislikes
Let’s have fun!: pastimes and hobbies, extending invitations, personal objects
