August 25 You must be registered to vote by this date. If you have recently moved to Roselle, you might need to update your registration.
September 8 Your Vote by Mail application must be received in the mail by the Union County Board of Elections on or before this date for a ballot to be sent to you.
September 14 Last day to apply for a Vote by Mail ballot in person, by 3 p.m.
September 15 Polls open for in-person voting. If you are voting by mail, your ballot must be postmarked on or before this date or hand-delivered by 8 p.m. on this date to the Union County Board of Elections in Elizabeth. Vote By Mail ballots cannot be submitted at the polling sites.
Voters must be registered by August 25 to participate in this special election.

Any student who is 18 or will be as of September 15 can vote in the bond referendum. Students in New Jersey can register to vote at age 17 in preparation to vote at age 18.
Once you register to vote, you can cast ballots in all local, statewide and federal elections.
Students or any Roselle resident who will be out of the area on September 15 for college, work or any other reason can apply to vote by mail in the referendum.

If you arrive at the polls and are told that your ballot was already mailed to you, or are told you cannot vote for any reason, ask for a provisional ballot. This means your ballot will be reviewed after all in-person and mailed ballots are processed, and will be counted if it is found to be valid.
You can Vote by Mail in this referendum. If you have already requested a ballot to be mailed to you and if your address is the same, you should receive a Vote by Mail ballot automatically before the election.

To request a Vote by Mail ballot, download an English or Spanish application. The county must receive that application in the mail by September 8 to mail you a ballot. After that date, you can deliver your completed application by 3 p.m. on September 14 to receive your ballot in person.
When you receive your Vote By Mail ballot, fill it out and either:
Mail it in with a postmark on or before September 15.
Take it to a drop box at the County Clerk’s Office at one of two locations:
