Test Prep

The VPT (Virginia Placement Test) is used at all community colleges in Virginia to make sure students are ready for college level work. Students may be required to take the VPT Math and/or VPT English. The Career Coach, Mrs. Martin, will let you know if you meet the criteria for test exemption. VPT scores will determine which classes a student will need to take.

The SAT helps determine how ready a person is ready for college. Many universities consider SAT scores as part of the admission process.

The ACT test measures general educational development and ability to complete college-level work. Many universities consider ACT scores as part of the admission process.

The ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Test) is a career exploration assessment that helps students match their strengths and interests with career pathways. Broadway High School does not share student information or ASVAB scores with military personnel. Students interested in pursuing the military as a career option can contact a military recruiter on their own.

The GED (General Education Diploma) is a set of tests that certify the test taker has met high school level academic skills.
