CSS Profile
In addition to the FAFSA, the CSS Profile is required by some colleges and universities to determine student eligibility for non-government financial aid, which includes grants, loans, and scholarships from a college. The CSS Profile is not a replacement for doing the FAFSA.
The CSS profile is not free. It costs $25 to fill out and submit the form to one school. You'll pay $16 each to submit to additional schools. However, fee waivers are available to eligible students.
The CSS profile becomes available online each year on October 1. Each college and university sets their own deadline to submit the CSS Profile so make sure to check out each college's Financial Aid webpage and submit the CSS Profile at least 2 weeks before the deadline.
