Create a reference Canvas Site that houses Nuts and Bolts documents from all departments for easy access/reference toward district expectations for principals and assistant principals.. Update with current information as needed.

Conduct needs assessment based on previous principal and assistant principal evaluations to determine leadership training needs at the district level. Work with RCS Papa, Human Resources, Curriculum and Instruction Department, and PTEC to create professional learning opportunities that are specific to leadership development goals for the district.

To create a mentor program for assistant principals and principals that will align with the mentor program here for Rockingham County Schools. We would like to create a mentor program that will focus on a supportive and informative process for administrators in the hope that they will become strong and confident leaders within our county.

Prioritize needs at each school. Principals should work with district staff to assess resources and prioritize needs both short term and long term. District departments (Human Resources, C&I, Operations & Logistics, ISS, and Finance) should work with principals on their needs and create a plan to address each school’s need in an equitable manner.

Re-establish learning walk expectations with all building level administrators to create district expectations for the learning walk process. This includes training and opportunities to conduct learning walks at different grade spans to strengthen the overall district capacity and reliability of the instrument.
