Action Steps
Deliver 4 part Professional Development on Personalized Learning centered on the the 4 pillars: Learner Profile, Competency Based Progressions, Learning Pathways, Flexible Environment. PD will be delivered to on all beginning teachers throughout the 2021-22 year.
Continue to expand the Modern Classroom Model to schools. Create 3 cohorts of 25 teachers for a fall, spring and summer sessions. Modern Classroom implements a flipped classroom approach to instruction that allows a more personalized learning focus for students.
Deliver Small Group Instruction Professional Development to each secondary school by middle/high school Instructional Coaches and PD support team.
Implement Foundational Math and Reading professional development sessions for all teachers in grades K-8 to include: Ready Math curriculum within iReady; Foundational Math; Fundations; mClass; Geek Squad.
Concentrate Elementary Career Fairs on technical and trade centered careers to introduce potential career opportunities to students.
Introduce 7th grade middle school students to the Junior Achievement JA Inspire Virtual Career Day. The JA Inspire will include 6 weeks of lesson plans that explore careers and culminate in a virtual field trip that will introduce students to over 80 business opportunities in the Triad area.
Develop a committee (to include Rockingham Business Community) to review and extend RCS Ready components in high school - develop lessons that promote Service Projects; soft skills; attendance; and focuses on skill/career readiness - to prepare our students to join the Rockingham Business Community.
Develop a committee to explore the feasibility of expanding the Year Round Calendar in Rockingham County Schools.
Identify Digital Learning Coaches and Personalized Learning Ambassadors for each school to support the work of this indicator. Individuals will be school based teachers/certified staff who will also receive a stipend of $125 over 8 months to implement these additional assignments and trainings in their respective schools.
