Dear Families,
As we reach the final newsletter of the term, it’s hard to believe how quickly the weeks have flown by. We’ve packed so much into this half term, and the last two weeks have been filled with festive excitement. The school looks wonderfully Christmassy - thank you to everyone who donated decorations, and to our PSA and staff who worked tirelessly to make the building feel extra magical for December.
One of the true highlights of the fortnight has been our Christmas nativity performances, which always signal the start of the season for me. Our EYFS and KS1 children were absolutely fantastic and should feel incredibly proud of themselves. I’m also very much looking forward to seeing our KS2 carol concert come together at Paignton Academy next Wednesday.
As we approach the end of term, I want to extend my sincere thanks for your ongoing support. It means so much to us, and we truly couldn’t do what we do without you. I wish you all a happy, restful, and safe Christmas break filled with special time together.
There is plenty to look forward to in school next week and we will be back in school on Monday 5th January to start 2026!
Kind regards,
Mrs Pippa Bastock
A huge thank you to Mr and Mrs Alexander-Thomas who have kindly donated some beautiful toys and sensory resources to our speech, language and communication provision. The children will be so excited to start exploring! We are always very grateful of any good quality, pre-loved items you think the children can make use of!
Last week, our EYFS children delighted families with their wonderful performances of Wriggly Nativity. Across two fantastic shows, the children sang, danced, and acted with such confidence and joy. For many of them, it was their very first time on stage, and they absolutely shone.
A huge thank you to the EYFS team for their creativity and hard work, and to our parents and carers for your support and enthusiasm. It was a truly heart‑warming way to begin the festive season.
This week, it was KS1’s turn to take to the stage, and what a week it has been. Our Year 1 and Year 2 children performed their nativity three times to packed audiences of parents and carers. Each show was full of energy, character, and festive spirit. The children spoke clearly, sang beautifully, and brought the story to life with real confidence. We are incredibly proud of every one of them. Thank you to the KS1 team for their dedication and to all families who joined us to celebrate their hard work.
At Roselands we hold regular 'insite' events. These are where parents and carers are able to come 'on site' to gain an 'insight' into their child's learning.
This morning we welcomed many of our year 5 and 6 parents and carers into school to support their child with their Design and Technology end of unit outcome which was to make a festive stocking. It was a wonderful festive morning where the children showcased their sewing skills and creative designs.
On Wednesday, a group of year 5 children visited Churston Grammar and took part in a workshop ran by year 10 and year 12 children and staff from the school. The children took part in games, interactive activities and sang songs linked to French, English and Science.
A reminder about our final upcoming Christmas plans!

Each fortnight, we shine a light on class attendance to celebrate and encourage everyone to aim high! Check out how each class is doing and let’s keep up the effort. Every day counts - let’s aim for everybody to be an attendance hero!
Please note that the KS1 Zoo trips have been added on in January.
