Wellness Tools for Students and Parents

During this time as we transition to returning to school, it is important we take a moment to accept the changes we have been presented with and begin to explore ways to continue to support and take care of ourselves. While uncertainty remains, there are aspects of our lives that we can create certainty around. We can still maintain meaningful yet different ways of connecting with our family and friends, incorporate ways to take care of our emotional and physical needs, and create healthy habits and routines.

As a Student Assistant Program (SAP) Counselor at Riverside Unified School District (RUSD), it is our goal to continue providing our school community with continued support and resources to help support you as we adjust to these changes. On this site you will find updated information on how to access available community resources, gain resources to support student’s wellness at home, find resources to support parents and get the most up-to-date RUSD news releases.

We want to thank all of our students, parents and families for being so understanding, patient and willing to adjust as we navigate this unprecedented and uncharted time. We are all in this together and we are wishing you all health and safety!

Role of the SAP Counselor

SAP Counselors are Licensed Clinical Social Workers and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists who work as part of the district’s Student Assistance Program (SAP). The focus of the SAP program is aimed at supporting students’ social, emotional, and behavioral needs. Every school site has an assigned SAP Counselor who works with student's, staff and family needs related to social/emotional health, helping connect families with resources within the community and the schools, as well as promotion of social/emotional wellness within our school culture.
