Noetic Learning

Noetic Learning is an organization that sponsors math competitions as well as problems of the week and other challenge opportunities.

Both River Edge schools sponsor the Noetic Learning math contest for Grades 2-6 twice a year.  (* NOTE: For the 2025-2026 school year, we are only planning to participate in the SPRING noetic contest, not the fall.)  It is a challenging contest with 20 questions that is given nationally and allows our students to compete against other math students across the US.  Awards and recognition are given for students scoring in the top 10%, top team score and honorable mentions.  

Testing will be coordinated through Mrs. Hafers via her Math Competitions google classroom.  All sign up information will be communicated through classroom teachers and this page.  

The contest is online and will be given during school.

1) If any student who was ROSTERED but absent, please email me (or have them email me) and I can schedule them independently for a make up.  The contest runs officially until the WED before Thanksgiving, so that's when their online system closes. I have a few windows where I can squeeze them in.  

2)  Scores show up immediately in my account roster but I cannot tell over a hundred students their scores.  I will tell my REignite/Math Enrichment students who I see in class.  After Thanksgiving, I will share those rosters of student SCORES with classroom teachers and students can ask them.

3) RESULTS won't be available until mid December.  Since this is a national contest it takes them a bit to calculate what scores defined the top 10% (Honor Roll) and top 50% (Honorable Mention).  When that is published I will also share it and post it in the google classroom.  Medals and ribbons will be distributed to teacher mailboxes, as usual.  The top score for each team (CHS/RES Grade nnn) also gets a medal and is recognized.

4)  Any students who missed the fall noetic can participate in the spring and sign up the same way.  That contest which won't be till April-ish.  Students who did the fall one are all set and do not need to sign up again.  They remain on the roster through the entire year.
