Thank you all for a great year. I have had a blast working with all students both in my classes and in the classrooms I visit each week on a rotational basis. I love running into you in the hallways at each building and I am even more psyched when you tell me about a new puzzle you tried or book that you bought based on something we did together in class! I am thrilled so many of you accepted my challenge to try the math contests this year and I look forward to more fun next year. Wishing you all a wonderful summer of fun, relaxation, recharging and spending time with family! See you in September.

I just received 25% discount coupon from Noetic Learning for their summer challenge program online that I can share with everyone here. I also will be distributing FREE summer challenge membership codes but only get 3 per grade level at each school, so some of you may receive those from me also.

I will be clearing out this year's registration form and attaching a link for next year in early September. Please visit the Contest Overview for a high level view of the contests offered each month. The more detailed "Dates & Deadlines" schedule will be posted for the 2026-2027 academic year and will be updated MONTHLY as each contest comes up.

The MATH CONTESTS page has high level information and the REGISTRATION FORM where you will sign up for all contests. The drop down menu simply has some high level information and links to particular contest sites but the registration happens on the MATH CONTESTS menu option.

Since I wear many hats here at River Edge, my website has more varied topics than most. Please note that some menu options at the top have a drop down arrow which then shows you the sub-menus below each. This was done to better organize the material. About Mrs. Hafers
I am thrilled to be teaching in River Edge at both Cherry Hill and Roosevelt Schools. Over my time here in River Edge, I have taught Math Enrichment and REignite classes, coached the Odyssey of the Mind teams, hosted a math club and coordinated the Gifted and Talented program. I sponsor March MATHness each March which I launched to encourage a month of math fun. I also started our Family Math Nights. Now we also have Language Arts and STEAM nights. I push in to most classrooms on a rotating basis for more chances to share my love of math, puzzles and brain teasers!
Some background: I graduated from Bucknell University with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with dual Concentrations in Operations Research and Computer Science. I began my professional life in technology, designing and developing systems for JPMorgan in NYC in their Corporate Finance and Financial Division. I received my MBA in Corporate Finance from Fairleigh Dickinson University before changing careers to education. I began teaching math at Bergen Community College, substituted for many years in Wyckoff, Ridgewood, and the Ramapo/Indian Hills School districts and taught both 7th grade science and 8th grade algebra. I am the proud mother of triplet girls who graduated from college, two from the University of Michigan and one from Villanova University. I also tutor and taught a math PRAXIS prep course at Bergen Community College.
I am excited about this opportunity with G&T and Math Enrichment because I love math and challenging problems. I am thrilled to share my love of math with your children. I’m passionate about the subject and its related skills of problem solving and critical thinking. Students who persevere and learn to work through math problems learn valuable skills and self confidence that are transferable to many other subjects and areas in life. We will explore all kinds of challenges, not just math related, in our enrichment classes but logic, problem solving will be the backbone of them all!
