We have begun reviewing all students for our pull-out G&T programs. Grades 1-6 are NOW COMPLETE.
Invitation letters FOR GRADES 2-3-4 were sent out on Tuesday, October 20th via the Genesis Parent Portal.
Classes for grades 2, 3, and 4 will begin on Wednesday, October 21st.
PLEASE NOTE: Since not all classes meet on Wednesday, some G&T teachers may not see students until next week if they meet on Tuesday, for example.
Grades 1, 5, and 6 are now also complete. Invitation letters will go out Thursday, October 22nd.
Classes will begin Friday, October 23 for grades 1-5-6.

ALL CLASS SCHEDULES For G&T are posted on the Schedules & Contacts drop down option under the Gifted & Talented menu option above.
Kindergarten begins in January.
The math contest Google Form is available (See Math Contests menu option), and the first contest (Perennial Math) will begin in the first week of November.

We offer a lot of math contests throughout the year. Please visit the MATH CONTESTS menu option above (not the drop down options) and read all the information there. There is a calendar for the year with all the contests. It is updated monthly with specific dates.

The MATH CONTESTS page has the REGISTRATION FORM where you will sign up for all contests with Mrs. Hafers, indicating which contests you are interested in taking. That is all that is needed. No one needs to pay money or register with a contest company directly as we are registered as a school district.

The drop down menu simply has some high level information and links to particular contest sites if you are interested in more information about the contests or the companies that offer them but the registration happens on the MATH CONTESTS menu option.

Since I wear many hats here at River Edge, my website has more varied topics than most. Please note that some menu options at the top have a drop down arrow which then shows you the sub-menus below each. This was done to better organize the material. About Mrs. Hafers
About Mrs. Hafers
I am thrilled to be teaching in River Edge at both Cherry Hill and Roosevelt Schools. Over my time here in River Edge, I have taught Math Enrichment and REignite classes, coached the Odyssey of the Mind teams, hosted a math club and coordinated the Gifted and Talented program. I sponsor March MATHness each March which I launched to encourage a month of math fun. I also started our Family Math Nights. Now we also have Language Arts and STEAM nights. I push in to most classrooms on a rotating basis for more chances to share my love of math, puzzles and brain teasers!
Some background: I graduated from Bucknell University with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with dual Concentrations in Operations Research and Computer Science. I began my professional life in technology, designing and developing systems for JPMorgan in NYC in their Corporate Finance and Financial Division. I received my MBA in Corporate Finance from Fairleigh Dickinson University before changing careers to education. I began teaching math at Bergen Community College, substituted for many years in Wyckoff, Ridgewood, and the Ramapo/Indian Hills School districts and taught both 7th grade science and 8th grade algebra. I am the proud mother of triplet girls who graduated from college, two from the University of Michigan and one from Villanova University. I also tutor and taught a math PRAXIS prep course at Bergen Community College.
I am excited about this opportunity with G&T and Math Enrichment because I love math and challenging problems. I am thrilled to share my love of math with your children. I’m passionate about the subject and its related skills of problem solving and critical thinking. Students who persevere and learn to work through math problems learn valuable skills and self confidence that are transferable to many other subjects and areas in life. We will explore all kinds of challenges, not just math related, in our enrichment classes but logic, problem solving will be the backbone of them all!
