📚Rights Respecting SchoolsÂ
What is a Rights Respecting School?
At Risca Primary School, we are working hard to become a Rights Respecting School. This means that we are putting the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child at the heart of our school, helping everyone to learn, grow, and reach their full potential.
Being a Rights Respecting School is all about equality, respect, dignity, and fairness. It’s a place where children’s rights are learned, taught, practised, respected, protected, and celebrated every day.
Our school works towards the four important UNICEF Rights standards:
🔑 Rights-respecting values guide our leadership and management
🔑 Everyone learns about the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child
🔑 Our school has a rights-respecting ethos
🔑 Children are encouraged to be active citizens and learners
Each class at Risca Primary creates its own class charter, inspired by the UN Convention. Pupils discuss their rights and the responsibilities that come with them. These charters are agreed upon in each class and put into practice every day.
Together, with our pupils and parents, we are building a rights-respecting community that reflects and strengthens the values we already cherish at Risca Primary School.
