☃️What Happens If It Snows or Extreme Weather?
In the event of snow or extreme weather, the best way to find out if the school is open or closed is to check the Caerphilly County Borough Council website. Our Headteacher, Mrs. Arthur, can access this from home and will update it as soon as possible. Once updated, we will also post a message on the school’s Instagram and Seesaw.
Several factors are taken into consideration when deciding whether or not to open the school, including:
⛈️The number of staff able to safely get to school
☃️The condition of the school paths and car park
⛈️The ability to provide lunches for pupils
☃️The safety of the roads for staff and parents
The decision to close the school will be made by Mrs. Arthur, in consultation with the Chair of Governors. We aim to update the Caerphilly Council website by 6:30am each morning.
However, as weather forecasts can change, decisions will be made early each day. During longer periods of severe weather, we will aim to give parents an indication the evening before.
The school will only open when the paths on the school site have been cleared to ensure safe entry and exit for all pupils.
What Happens If Heavy Snow Falls While the School Is Open?
If heavy snow falls while the school is open, we will contact parents and ask them to collect their children as soon as possible. The school closure will be listed on:

🏫When Will the School Reopen?
Mrs. Arthur will decide when to reopen the school once it has been made safe for pupils and staff.
Parents should make their own decision regarding whether they can safely bring their child to school. If you are unable to do so, we strongly advise that your child remains at home.
