At Risca Primary School, we believe that strong communication between home and school is essential in helping every child succeed. We value our professional relationships with parents and carers and aim to keep you fully informed about your child’s learning, progress, and school life.

Please ensure your contact details are always up to date. These can be updated via the School Office or through our Permissions form, sent out at the start of the academic year.

💬Daily Communication

If you wish to speak to your child’s teacher, please make an appointment for the end of the school day. Quick messages can be passed on in the morning, but matters requiring more attention should be discussed after school.

You can contact the office for general enquiries, to update your contact details, or for assistance with school communications, including Seesaw and permissions. Also contact the office to report child absence.

🚪Open Door Policy

At Risca Primary School, we operate an open-door policy. We welcome parents and carers to discuss any concerns or questions about their child’s learning and wellbeing.

For more detailed discussions, please make an appointment to ensure the class teacher or relevant staff member is available.

💻Seesaw – Sharing School Life

At Risca Primary School, we use the Seesaw app in a number of ways to keep parents and carers informed and involved in school life.

Classroom updates: Teachers regularly post photographs, updates, and examples of pupils’ work so you can see what your child is learning and enjoying at school.
School communications: The school office, SLT staff, and our Family and Community HLTA also post letters, reminders, updates, and important information.
Pupil contributions: Children can upload content themselves, but all work is approved by teachers before being shared.

Seesaw requires an invitation from your child’s teacher to subscribe. The app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

📳Social Media – Instagram

We also share news, updates, and highlights from school on our official Instagram account. This is a great way to see school events, pupil achievements, and activities in action.

Our school website is regularly updated with news, events, and important information. It is a key way for parents and carers to stay informed about school life.

🧑‍🍼Parent Consultations

Parent Consultations take place twice a year, giving you the opportunity to discuss your child’s progress and achievements with their class teacher. An end-of-year report is sent out in July.

We look forward to welcoming you on site during these consultations, where you can view your child’s books and talk through their learning in detail.
