📔Risca Community Comprehensive School
The majority of our pupils transfer to Risca Community Comprehensive School for Year 7, and we place a strong emphasis on ensuring that this transition is smooth, positive, and well-supported.
Transition is very important to us. We begin the process early, starting in Year 5, so that pupils feel confident and familiar with their next stage of education.
We have a well-established and effective transition programme in place, which includes:
Early engagement in Year 5, including sports events and joint activities
Opportunities for pupils and parents to visit Risca Community Comprehensive School
Regular visits from secondary school staff, helping pupils build confidence and familiarity
A structured transition programme for Year 6 pupils, supporting both academic and pastoral needs
These experiences help pupils feel comfortable, reduce anxiety, and build excitement about moving on to secondary school.
We are proud of our strong and continuing links with Risca Community Comprehensive School. These partnerships are strengthened year on year through:
Regular cluster meetings to support curriculum continuity, attendance etc.
Collaboration on projects and initiatives to enhance learning opportunities
Ongoing communication between staff to ensure every child is well prepared
Our close working relationship ensures that every child is supported to make a successful and confident start to their secondary education.
While the majority of our pupils transition to Risca Community Comprehensive School, some families choose secondary schools outside of our cluster.
These include Newbridge Comprehensive School and Bassaleg Comprehensive School.
We support all pupils and families in their chosen pathway and are happy to provide guidance throughout the application and transition process to ensure every child feels confident about their move to secondary education.
