Description: Hybrid learning provides unique challenges and opportunities for SPED students. This eight-part professional development course will examine some of the common concerns and solutions the accompany hybrid learning.
Simplify
When thinking about the remote learning challenges for students with disabilities, it became clear that for students and parents to be able to navigate through their learning it needs to be simple. We repeatedly hear, “THERE ARE SO MANY TECH TOOLS OUT THERE, DON'T USE THEM ALL AT ONCE!” Simplify your life! Pick one or two that enhance and simplify your instruction and will be easy for students and parents to use. You can try a new tool after a few weeks or stick with your tried and true ones.
Organize
Organize your Google Classroom, create a weekly calendar for your kiddos (and share this info with parents), organize your email, utilize google calendar and to do lists- STAYING ORGANIZED DIGITALLY WILL ALLOW YOU TO EASILY SWITCH BETWEEN LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS- HYBRID, 100% HOME, ETC.
Connect
We can’t even begin to tell you how important communication has been for virtual learning, and the social emotional well being of our kiddos. Some teachers reported that they had no reciprocated communication with some families, but MANY TEACHERS REPORTED THAT THEY FELT MORE CONNECTED TO STUDENTS AND FAMILIES DUE TO INCREASED COMMUNICATION.
