48294 MTSS_Building Effective Teams
Course Description: Developing a variety of teams is an integral component of a school’s systems and structures. The goal of this Professional Learning is to provide guidance and effective strategies for making teams run efficiently and systematically. This professional learning is for any building team member, including but not limited to problem-solving, attendance, and behavior support. The topics of this professional learning will include effective team structures, scheduling, roles and responsibilities, processes and protocols, and much more. Materials and resources from the University of Kansas Community Toolbox will be used and adapted for this work. Multiple engagement strategies will also be used including, but not limited to; discussion and dialogue, reflection, reaching consensus, and conducting effective meetings. We will be Collaborating with the Attendance Department and the Department of Student Support Services for these sessions. This professional learning is offered twice, but participants need to only attend once.

37504 MTSS_eLearning: Unpacking Standards for Tier 1 Success Course 1
Course Description: MTSS: Unpacking Standards for Tier 1 Success will be an eLearning course that will guide classroom teachers through a system of unpacking content standards. It will begin with extracting the content and skills from the standard and then unwrap them into learning progressions that students will need to go through to have mastery in that standard. These learning progressions will help classroom teachers understand the areas they will need to scaffold the content and/or skills for their students. From there, teachers will develop language for learning intentions and success criteria that the students will use to examine their own success. For full credit, teachers will choose 2 different content standards to unpack.

37822 MTSS_eLearning: Unpacking Standards for Tier 1 Success Course 2
Course Description: This eLearning course is a continuation of Unpacking Standards for Tier 1 Success offered during Summer 2022. The pre-requisite is completion of the initial course (MTSS Unpacking Standards for Tier 1 Success – Course #37504). During Course 2, participants will continue the modules from the resource “The Teacher Clarity Playbook” by Douglas Fisher and Nancy Frey. After reviewing the work previously completed, participants will continue to refine the standards unpacking with the following topics: Modifying learning intentions to include language expectations, determining the relevance of the learning, designing assessment opportunities, creating meaningful learning experiences, and establishing mastery of standards. PARTICIPANTS MUST COMPLETE THE ENTIRE COURSE FOR CREDIT. NO PARTIAL CREDIT IS ALLOWED.

48293 MTSS_Diving into Data-Based Decision Making and its Implications
Course Description: Having strong problem-solving teams (PST) is an integral component of the MTSS Framework. In order to be effective, the PST must understand the 4-step data-based problem-solving process. This professional learning will guide members of the PST through the 4-step process, provide opportunities for role-playing, and understand the documentation. Team members will engage in role-playing and also collaborate throughout the session. There are 2 sessions offered in this course, participants only need to attend 1 full three-hour session for credit. No partial credit will be given. It is recommended that building team members attend the same session.

48290 MTSS_Developing a Strong System
Course Description: This training is for educators that are identified by their building principals. These teacher leaders will be an integral part of leading the district MTSS implementation within their buildings. During this training, participants will collaborate on effective procedures for implementing RtI, Problem-Solving, overall communication about tiered instruction, and intervention and data. The resources used through this training will first involve the resource Leading Equity-Based MTSS for All Students by Amy McCart and Dawn Miller. Through the first 4 sessions, participants will read and discuss excerpts from this book. They will develop goals for the year, and assess current MTSS systems within their buildings. The remaining session will focus on coaching strategies using The Impact Cycle by Jim Knight. Providing coaching support to the liaisons will help build capacity and strengthen their abilities to lead this work. Throughout the course, participants will engage in collaborative conversations, group work, and reflective evaluations. This PL is offered once in the summer and follow-up training will occur during the school year. Participants must attend all sessions for full credit.
